A Blessed Nation

• May 6, 2012 -- Vice President Biden endorses same-sex marriage.
• May 9, 2012 -- President Obama endorses same-sex marriage.

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." (Psalm 33:12) How far does a nation have to move away from God before God is no longer its Lord? In the time of Noah, moving away from God brought the destruction of all except eight souls. In the time of Lot,Moving away from God brought destruction of those cities except three souls.

With our vice president and president endorsing same-sex marriage, 52% of our population endorsing same-sex marriage, and with her Supreme Court legalizing the murder of unborn children — how far do we have to go before God is not the Lord of our nation?

Is President Obama representative of our nation before God when he endorses things that are an abomination before God? This is what God said in Genesis 2:18 when he created the world — "Is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a help meet." In verses 21-24 God created Eve, a "woman," and God created a "male/female" marriage saying — "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."

On October 10, 2009, Obama spoke to the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgendered at a Human Rights Campaign national dinner. He denied God's word referring to it as "outworn" and "old" when he said — "there are still people who hold fast to outworn arguments and old attitudes; who fail to see your families like their families; who deny you the rights most Americans take for granted." He failed to see that in Genesis 4:1-2, God created the first family with a "male and female."

And at the same dinner, he moved our nation further away from God and his truth when he said — "You will see a time in which we as a 'nation' finally recognize relationships between two men and two women as just as real and admirable as relationships between a man and woman." Notice the pronoun "we." Is he speaking for our nation?

In the New Testament the apostle Paul writes of God's plan creation — "But because of immorality, let each man have his own wife, and that each woman have her own husband. That the husband fulfilled his duty to his wife, and likewise also the wife to her husband." (1 Corinthians 7:2-3) And in Ephesians 5: 22 to 6:4, Paul gives us a picture of the way, God created the family, not the fake picture presented by President Obama.

The New Testament gives us an example of people becoming ungodly, who turn the grace of God into licentiousness and denying our only master and Lord, Jesus Christ. "Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire." (Jude 7) And Peter writes in 2 Peter 2:6 — "and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly thereafter."

And in Romans 1:26-28 we have a condemnation of the very things our president endorses — "For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their errors."

God has spoken! "Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34)
