God's Word Is Alive

God's word was not given to put us down.
It was given to make us pure and sound.
God's word reveals His will for man,
So we can be led by a gentle hand.

God's word was not given to enslave.
It was given for man his soul to save.
It reveals a God who is our friend,
If we are faithful to the end.

Skeptics' blows have beat upon that word.
It still is preached and heard.
God's word is here still unharmed.
God tells the Christian not to be alarmed.

This word the apostles made known to all.
The Holy Spirit revealed the word of God's call.
The word was sealed by Christ's death on the cross.
The Son of God died at awful cost.

Go's word is not mean.
If offers salvation man had not seen.
It tells of a God who is love.
He sent His Son from above.

"Destroy it," said wicked men of every type,
But God preserved it for man's light
Fight with God about His word many have said,
Not realizing in sin they were dead.

Man can trust it will all his heart.
God's word will never depart.
Obedience to God's word each day,
to heaven we can be on our way.

Entrust in Him to save one's soul.
The word says this should be one's goal.
When we reach heaven's place,
His word says we can see his face.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 -- " And for this reason we also constantly thank God that when you received from us the word of God's message, you accepted it not as the word of men, but for what it really is, the word of God, which also performs its work in you who believe."

"So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is." (Ephesians 5:17)
