To our beloved in the Lord Jesus the Christ who believe Him and serve Him in the city of Lakeside: Greetings in the Lord. It is our prayer to the Lord every day that He be thanked for His Goodness. May He use us to bring people to repentance from this evil generation.
Brethren, it is with much satisfaction that we make our report of the activities we carry out in this part of the world in the name of our Good God.
First we apologize for being late with the report. This month was just a little too full with extras, but we thank God that we didn't put aside the things of God.
We have changed our times of worship from the mornings to the evenings because of the work schedules of 4 members and two of our visitors. We are now meeting at 6:00 p.m. for class and 7:00 p.m. for the Lord Supper. In our class We are still in John 12. This means we will be visiting you in your morning service when we come up.
On Wednesday evenings we are still in Psalms 119. We should be done by the end of this month. It has not been boring in the least even though all except one verse speaks of the Word of God in one way or another.
Our classes with outsiders are steady. Juan Leyva and Juan Cisneros (our Juanes) visit our services. Maria de Jesus is also a steady visitor. It encourages us very much to have people interested in changing their lives visit us.
Our classes in Calexico continue with much interest. Our class with Margarita, Prisila and Prisila's husband Andres is now in Acts 15. We hope that he will consider obedience to the gospel when we get to the conversion of the jailer in Chapter 16. Andres is a very intelligent man and picks things up much faster then our two sisters. Perhaps it is because he has no pre-conceived ideas. We are very happy with the progress of this class. We have seen a much happier pair of sisters in Christ. To forgive others their offences not only pleases the Lord, but it is also good for our health,· both spiritual and physical.
We continue to visit our brethren in Tecate. I mentioned to them that I might not be able to make it up during the summer cause our automobiles need repair. I desperately need to do some work on the pick up and maintance on the other two vehicles we use. The summers here are pretty hard on motors. The brethren are doing very well in Tecate. The Lord help them.
This month I took two days to do my taxes. Since I'm considered "self-employed", I bring out all of my receipts and tally up my business mileage .. etc. It usually takes me 2 or 3 days of intensive work on this. I don't like it at all and I usually wait till the last day to have them ready.
This past 28th of April, our oldest daughter April Marie got married. Brother Bob McCurdy from Mira Lorna did the ceremony for us. She married a fellow from Portland, Oregon. His name is Christopher Carlson. We've come to know him as well as we can and we believe they will bring joy to our lives and be a plus to the world. Christopher is not a Christian so we ask your prayers that the Lord will help April bring him to the Lord. So far Christopher has been attending services with April and we believe that ifhe gives God an ear, he will be blessed.
A week before April's wedding, Jacob and Clara (our youngest daughter) came down from Canada to be with us for 10 days. After it was all done, we only got about 6 of those days. Family and friends all demanded some time with them. I don't blame them, Jacob and Clara are a great Christian couple and very good parents. Martha and I have come to love Jacob more and more. Most of the time I spent with Jacob we spoke about our God. I'm very happy that he has net slowed down one bit in his quest to serve the Lord. Clara is right there with him seeking the will of God in all things. Our granddaughters are the most beautiful dolls in the world. We just had a great time with both of our daughters and our granddaughters. We treated Jacob and Clara to all the Mexican dishes not available in Canada yet. "Tacos de Borrego" (Lamb tacos) "Tacos de carne asada" (beef tacos) "Menudo" (In Canada only in cans .. yuk) "Tacos de Pescado" (Fish tacos) .. Tortas (Mexican burger) "Flautas" (little tacos) .. and the such. Martha and I can not stop thanking God for such blessings. Looking back and looking at the Word of God, Martha and I know that it is the Lord who has blessed us with our children and now with our grandchildren.
A word of thanks to David for showing up to lend his support at our daughter's wedding. We believe you have a treasure with you in the Swanson Family.
Very well our beloved, this is all for now. In behalf of the church here, we thank you for your loyal support.
Your brother in His service,
